Art Fairs & The Artist

First Time Buyer or a long time collector, art fairs and markets, open studio tours and your local neighbourhood is a great place to buy original art. These items often can be for home decorating items but often you will come across up and coming artists (you may not know this at the time) who has work which you will love for a long time, and pass down. There are Renoirs, Van Gohs and Atgets in your neighbourhood.

What is most important is buy what you love. Yes, sometimes this may be over our budget, but consider the time, talent and quality you are investing in. Most artists accept offers. It is more important to them that their work goes to a good home. This is something you will have forever. Investing in local talent not only supports the artists financially but provides them with inspiration and motivation.

Local Art Market are often run by the artists themselves and this is a great opportunity to meet them and ask about their work and learn of the techniques and hear the stories which inspired the piece. Artists always have a story.

This Month (November) in Vancouver the East Side Culture Crawl takes place. Those artists who do not fall into this catchment, often open their studios at other times of the month and location. This is true all around Vancouver and its surrounding cities.

Join me, along with 24 other artists on Saturday November 7 Noon -6pm at Renegade Arts Co, for our Open Studio Art Market and Live Music Event. 125 E 2nd Ave Vancouver (just west of Main St.)

Looking forward to meeting everyone. I would love to discuss new and traditional Darkroom methods of processing.
