Exhibition-Curating & Installation

Curating and Installing a new exhibitiion has to be the most fun I have with a body of work. The most challenging, therfore the most inspiring is having a joint or group show. The different styles, mediums and personalities are what an audience wants to see, and to be creative with these elements during the curations and installation are part of the art exhibition.

Most important, no matter the number of artists or artworks, is to have a cohesive theme. Len Budiwski's current work is titled "Works with Nature", sculptures and photographs. Rita Minichiello's "Urban Influences" are select images from a retrospective of works from 1983-2014. Specific images from different series were specifically chosen to support the exhibition.

With joint or group exhibition the common instinct is to showcase the works seperately for each artist. But what is the most important element? Is it the artist or the cohesive theme the exhibition is exploring? Of course the latter is what I choose to emphasize. This is why I like to choose the pieces which work together, often spreading the arworks from artists throughout the space to create a smooth flow, so the audience can drift, from one image to another image in a seperate space, seamlessly.

I want to thank Len for being very patient and doing all the hanging. I do admit, I look through all the art like they are presents on Christmas morning and start arranging and pointing to where I see them shine and Len does all the heavy lifting.
